The Ministry of Defense of the kingdom is distinct from the other ministries in that it is mainly focused on administrating and managing the Royal Armed Forces. As such, civilian and military competences tend to sometimes clash and cause bureaucratic stalls. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Defense is run efficiently by Emmett O'Malice, who additionally covers the role of Supreme General of the Royal Armed Forces (SGRAF) expediting orders and decisions exponentially. O'Malice was appointed following his role in the War, which he participated in as Lieutenant General of the 16th Infantry Division of the Fifth Army, and then as Interim Field General once the Fifth Army's then commander died in the line of duty. In both roles, he lead by example, with a tough love attitude that soldiers came to appreciate. He held great regard for psychological health on the battlefield and would often rotate troops out of the worse fronts. He was known for bringing fine alcohol, cheese and meats to the frontline to share with troops. The Ministry of Defense's purpose is rather clear: it serves as the army of the kingdom, fighting internal and external threats and operating disaster relief operations.
The ministry is divided as such, and operates under supervision from the Defense Cabinet, made up of the Minister and representatives from the Council, High Chamber and Chiefs of Staff from each branch:
Bureau of Defense Policy: develops defense strategies and tactics.
Bureau of Magic Defense: studies and develops techniques to defend against magical attacks.
Bureau of Intelligence: managed jointly with the Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs, it organizes the Royal Secret Service's operations.
Ethics Review Board: a board with binding decisional power that reviews the MOD's actions.
