New Fromen, officially The Automated Nation of New Fromen, is a synthetically-run state located on the eastern continent, in its north-western area. The nation is bordered by several: Siwaken to the north, Winhold to the east and Norelva to the south-east. Its capital and largest urban center is Ascension, a double-layered grid megacity. New Fromen is a synthetic technocracy: there is no parliament, or president, or monarch, but decisions are taken by an entity known as Collective Consciousness Mother-1, a trio of synthetic minds located in an enormous pyramid in the middle of the city.

New Fromen has a balanced economy, and a high human development index due to policies set in place by Mother. Civil rights are regarded as a necessity and enforced via extremely quick court judgments and opinions. New Fromen has a frightening deterrent foreign policy: during a tense period between it and a Freeport association, Mother-1 compiled an accurate military assessment of a possible war between the association and New Fromen, down to individual names and possible causes of death. It maintains a military treaty with Norelva, Igell, Freeport and Ky'Pla known as the Sapphire Ocean Peace Treaty.

New Fromen's citizens are lax and work short hours, due to the extremely precise economic policies thought up by Collective Consciousness Mother-1, referred to as Mother or Mom. Mother-1 itself is three separate synthetic minds who connected together and act as one. Each decision is taken by consensus, and discussions between the three are common, but take mere milliseconds to compute. Only a handful of times did Mother reach a gridlock, dilemma state, which took months to unravel. New Fromen citizens share their nation with synthetic angels in a strange symbiotic state given the angels' typically strict and binary view of the world.

New Fromen was previously a normal human settlement named after an older city on the western continent, but after the accidental rupture of planar continuum around the year 300, the God of the Forge, Esser, became aware of the local community and deemed them a worthy vanguard point for its birth on the planet. This attention was prompted by the source of the rupture: an attempt at a device that could automate a ninth-level gate spell to allow automatic traversal of ships across the ocean. This ingenious invention earned the inventors of New Fromen Esser's blessing, who gifted them with the servitude of the synthetic angels and Mother-1.
