Everything to do with the kingdom's structure, its parties and any other nonsense you probably don't want to know.
The organization of the Kingdom of Norelva is based on the principle of separation of powers, and was established some time in the Year 250 under Royal Decree by King Elias Noret. While the nation remains a hereditary monarchy, and power is ultimately centered around the figure of the monarch, steps have been taken to ensure that the population is as vital to the functioning of the government as the king. Officially, since reforms in 465-468, the nation of Norelva is a parliamentary monarchy. Power is divided in the three major branches seen below, and several political parties are present.
Some families have remained present throughout the kingdom's evolution, since the founding of the city on the river by Elias Noret. These were either blood families or groups of likeminded beings with specific concerns. As the kingdom was founded and grew, they received shares of the land by the monarch and became vassals, entrusted with the control of certain industries or cities. Following the Scorching, and then the War, only six of the Houses remain while others died out entirely or became irrelevant (e.g. the Montague, Schenre, Lisimacus, etc.).
The mighty Royal Armed Forces of Norelva are, by all accounts, the most powerful known military in the world. Consisting of the Royal Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Corps, the RAF are a modern, efficient and respected force. Each branch is assigned a specific role: the Royal Army conducts land operations, the Royal Navy maritime operations and infantry support, the Royal Air Corps air support and reconnaissance.
