As a prelude, the planet of Oras was created as other stellar bodies in fantasy worlds: through the intervention of magic forces. Oras is the second planet in its star system, with the first being a scorching Mercury-like planetoid. Oras (meaning dirt or mud) occupies the Goldilocks zone as the only habitable planet in this system, orbited itself by a volcanic moon called Barga (meaning firey rock) which behaves similarly to Earth's own Moon. Higher beings interjected themselves into the life of this world some time during the primitive era, and continue to influence and prod at its inhabitants consistently via miracles, curses and actions typical of deities. The most notable example of divine intervention is the gift of stewardship of Oras to Elias Noret, father of current Norelvan king Evander Noret.
